Passenger dies of heart attack at domestic airport
Chennai, Mar 15 (UNI) A 68-year-old Sri Lankan air passenger died of a heart attack at Kamaraj domestic airport here today.
Police said, the passenger Piyasen (68), who arrived here by Air Sahara flight from Colombo with his wife Lalitha Thaprew (60) and their daughter Subha Thaprew (30) was waiting in the queue to collect the boarding pass to board the Delhi bound Air Sahara flight when he complained of chest pain and swooned on the floor.
Airport health unit doctors rushed to the spot and examined the passenger and declared him dead.
Later, the body was sent to Government Hospital Chrompet for post-mortem.
Efforts were on to take the body to Colombo through the office of the Sri Lankan Deputy High Commissioner, the sources added.
The incident led to a 20 minute delay for the Chennai-Delhi flight, police said.
