NMCE launches 44 new futures contract, six new spread series

Ahmedabad, Mar 15 (UNI) Even as futures trading in 46 commodities and their derivatives expired today, the National Multi-Commodity Exchange (NMCE) is launching 44 new futures contracts and six new spread series with effect from tomorrow.

The new contracts include gold, silver, cardamom, pepper, gur, guargum, isabgul, cumin seed, cotton seed, linseed, sesame, mustard/rapseed, groundnut, soyabean, coconut cake and their oil, crude palm oil, RBD palmolein, rice bran, vanaspati, moong, masoor and sugar. Contracts of most of these commodities will expire on June 15, 2007.

The new contracts in rubber and sack opens tomorrow and will expire on July 14, whereas that in castorseed 10MT on August 14 and in Pepper, Coffee Arabica and Robusta on September 15, 2007.

The six new proposed spread series are three each in Pepper and Rubber, for specific period of April-July, May-July and June-July in 2007.

NMCE also provides electronic platform for trading in other commodities, including base metals, which begin and expire on different days of the month.

Thus, the total number of contracts now available for trading on NMCE terminals will be 200, comprising 188 series and 12 spread series. Some are more actively traded than others.
