LS adjourned till 1400 hrs over Nandigram violence

New Delhi, Mar 15 (UNI) A combative Opposition stalled the proceedings of the Lok Sabha on the Nandigram issue, forcing a third adjournment of the House till 1400 hrs today.

As soon as the House re-assembled after two adjournments at 1230 hrs, NDA members again trooped into the well of the House, demanding the dismissal of the West Bengal government following police firing in Nandigram yesterday which led to the death of 12 people.

Shiv Sena members indulged in slogan shouting, demanding to know why Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, who is a CPI-M member from West Bengal, was not in the Chair and demanding his presence in the House.

As the furore continued, Deputy Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal adjourned the House till 1400 hrs.

Earlier, as soon as the house began the day's sitting, agitated BJP-led Opposition members were on their feet, shouting slogans, demanding the dismissal of the West Bengal government. Amid the din, the Deputy Speaker had adjourned the house till 1200 hrs.

When the house re-assembled, the Opposition members again trooped into the well of the house shouting slogans against the CPI(M) government in West Bengal and waving today's newspapers.

In the melee, Mr Atwal rushed through a few business matters slated for the day and adjourned the house for another half-an-hour till 1230 hrs.

Even as the BJP members were shouting slogans, the RJD members had demanded that the house discuss naxal violence in BJP-ruled Chhattisgarh where about 30 security personnel were reported to have been killed early this morning.
