LC poll preparations complete

Visakhapatnam, Mar 15 (UNI) District Collector and Returning Officer A K Singhal today said all arrangements have been made for the Member of Legislative Council (MLC) elections from the graduates and techers constituencies here.

Addressing mediapersons, he said 224 and 121 polling booths have been set up for the graduates and teachers constituencies, respectively and 42 in local bodies constituency in the districts, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam.

The polling would be held on March 17 from 0080 hrs to 1600 hrs.

Campaigning would conclude this evening at 1600 hrs, he added.

Counting of votes would be held on March 25. Additional security would be provided at sensitive villages.

Out of 48 candidates, 31 candidates were contesting for the graduates constituency while 13 joined the fray from teachers constituency and four from local bodies constituency.

The elections to the council were being held after a gap of 22 years.
