Kaul Singh takes on BJP over corruption issue

Shimla, Mar 15 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Irrigation and Public Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur today termed the chargesheet against the ministers in the present Congress government as a ''bundle of lies''.

Participating in the discussion on the budget proposals for 2007-2008, he referred to the BJP's charge sheet against the Congress government a bundle of lies and reminded the opposition party of its own past, wherein several of its own ministers and legislators had accused its own government of widespread corruption.

Reading a letter written by seven BJP legislators to the then chief minister P K Dhumal, he said they had termed their own government as one of the most corrupt state government ever.

Mr Singh said the BJP legislators and ministers had talked about corruption, favoritism in jobs, discrimination in development works and alleged that the former chief minister was carrying out political vendetta against some party leaders.

The letter had also talked about the former BJP chief minister taking support of one Congress MLA to get a case registered against one of the ministers in his own cabinet, he said.

The IPH Minister said the letter had mentioned that ''some BJP MLAs and ministers were being humiliated by the chief minister, who is indulging in petty politics and was ruining the state with the support of senior party leader Narender Modi for personal gains.

The leaders had also alleged that the then chief minister had been squandering public money and misusing the helicopter to the maximum, he said, adding based on these allegations, the seven former BJP ministers and MLAs had demanded leadership change.
