Karunanidhi announces all help to upcoming little athlete

Chennai, Mar 15 (UNI) In another example of its special efforts to foster sporting talent, the Tamil Nadu government has decided to adopt a five year- old girl Sivasree, who has been exhibiting noteworthy talent in athletics.

This was announced by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi here yesterday while answering a set of questions.

When his attention was drawn to the fact that Sivasree, hailing from Villapuram on the outskirts of Madurai city was on the way to becoming a talented athlete, Mr Karunanidhi said that he had also come to know about the girl.

''As soon as I happened to read about her , I directed the officials to get in touch with the Madurai district administration and asked them to make arrangements to bring Sivasree to Chennai.'' The state government would give all necessary help to facilitate Sivasree to develop her innate talent in the sport, Mr Karunanidhi said.

UNI
