Indo-Australian conference on Pharmacogenomics on Mar 17, 18

Manipal, Karnataka, Mar 15 (UNI) A two-day Indo-Australian conference on Human and Pharmacogenomics would be held here on March 17 and 18.

Giving details about the conference at a press conference here today, conference Convener and MAHE Life Sciences Centre head Dr K Satyamoorthy said 500 delegates from across the country would participate in the conference. Over 20 distinguished scientists from Australia and India in the field of Pharmacogenomics and Human variations would address the conference, to be inaugurated by Nobel Laureate Prof Peter Doherty of the Univeristy of Melbourne and keynote address delivered by Prof M R S Rao, President of JNSCAR, Bangalore.

He said the core objectives of the conference was to establish closer links between Indian and Australian universities and develop research and development activities that help to manage human diseases in a rational way. It was also aimed at acting as a catalyst for young researchers taking up pharmacogenomics research, train manpower to lead pharmacogenomics programmes and establish futuristic personalised medicine and disease management.

The conference would be organised by Australian Education International, Australian High Commission, Manipal University and TIFAC-CORE (Technology Information Forecasting and Assessment Council - Centre of Relevance and Excellance) at Manipal Life Sciences Centre.
