Chaturvedi remanded to police custody till Mar 20

Mumbai, Mar 15 (UNI) A local court remanded Rajendra Chaturvedi, a noted builder from the city, to police custody till March 20, for his alleged involvement in a conspiracy to eliminate another builder to gain control of a Rs 500 crore project.

Chaturvedi was arrested late last night by Juhu police for his alleged involvement in the plot to kill Mr Rashmikant Shah of Vijay Group. He was produced in Metropolitan Court, Andheri this afternoon, which remanded him to Police custody till March 20.

Earlier, senior inspector Juhu Police Station Pradip Shinde said Chaturvedi was arrested on charges of conspiracy (120b) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for his alleged involvement in conspiring to kill Mr Shah to get contract of Redevelopment of Abhyudaya Nagar Colony in south-central Mumbai, estimated at more than Rs 500 crore.

The officer said Chaturvedi had allegedly hired contract killers through one Baba Udaynath Pratapsingh Chauhan, a spiritual leader, to kill Mr Shah. Juhu police nabbed them while they were on their way to commit an offence.

They were identified as - Mohammed Jaffer Sheikh, Aslam Khan, Salim Qureshi and Vijay Vadkar.

During interrogation, they confessed that they were hired by the Baba to kill Shah.
