Arindam Chaudhuri asks students to be path of change

New Delhi, Mar 15 (UNI) 'Management Guru' and renowned economist Prof Arindam Chaudhuri has asked students to utilise their studies for the betterment of the country and said "we should be the path of change we visualise" to increase the purchasing power of poor.

Prof Chaudhuri was speaking at the Convocation 2007 of the Indian Institute of Planning and Management(IIPM), New Delhi, one of the leading management institutes in the country, organised here last evening to honour the success and achievement of the Fall Winter Batch 2004-06 in the presence of various corporate luminaries.

Prof Chaudhuri, who is also the Honorary Dean of IIPM, established in 1973, asked the students to do whatever they want passionately. He emphasized the thought of "karm kiye ja, par phal ki chinta na kar", as thinking beyond the dreams is the important spirit.

Prof Chaudhuri known for his world famous book 'Count Your Chickens Before They Hatch' said it was a rare occasion for him to stand before his teachers, some eminent 'business gurus' sitting over there.

He emphasized that this institute was not a management certificate giving body adding that it did its best to fulfill the promises it made to its students.

He said IIPM students are going out with world-class education and are getting average salary packages of Rs five lakh per annum. They are getting placements at top business houses nationally and globally.

The IIPM had broken the aura created by other B-schools in management education and made impossible as possible by taking its 100 per cent students global every year and bringing diversity and quality in every field of subjects.

The ceremony held at IIPM International Campus commenced with Dr Malay Chaudhuri, Director, IIPM lighting the lamp. The Chief Guest for the Convocation Ceremony was Mr N R Chatterjee, Ex-Dean, Faculty of Management Studies.

The Director stressed on national interest as the goal of IIPM adding that this is the sole B-school where National Economic Planning Concept is added in the 'student programme'.

The students were handed over the Diploma Certificates on the successful completion of their Post-Graduate Programme and also the MBA Degree from IMI, Europe. The all-rounder and acamedically meritorious students were given medals by the Director of IIPM.

Both Director's Gold Medal and Academic Gold Medal went to Ms Aparna Jain.

The grandeur of the event was added by the performance by famous Bharatnatyam dancer and Carnatic vocalist Geeta Chandran. She presented a piece of 'dancing Shiva-Nataraja' signifying the destructive and creative power of the 'great creator'.
