AP Speaker disallows suggestion on Nandigram
Hyderabad, Mar 15 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker K R Suresh Reddy today rejected a suggestion by AIAMIM Leader Akbaruddin Owaisi that the government should pass a resolution condemning police firing in Nandigram in West Bengal.
The Speaker clarified the Assembly was not competent to make comments on the functioning of another state government. If the member wanted, he could express sympathies to the bereaved families.
The AIAMIM MLA's suggestion led to altercation between the members of his party and the CPI(M) who rushed into the well of the House and started loudly protesting.
CPI(M) deputy leader M A Gafoor said while he was not going into the situation leading to the police firing, he condemned the members attempt at mudslinging on the West Bengal Government.
Senior TDP Member Ch Rajeswara Rao said Under Rule 77 any member who wanted to move a resolution, had to give a ten-day notice even for a private resolution.
