AMWJU condemns assault of mediapersons by AR troops
Imphal, Mar 15 (UNI) The All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU) today condemned the assault on journalists by some jawans of 38 Assam Rifles at Kotlen in Senapati district yesterday.
AMWJU sources said the AR personnel assaulted these journalists, while they were taking a report on the alleged rape of an 18-year-old girl by a few AR jawans on March 13.
The troops also threatened the journalists to erase the photographs of the incident in which the troops were seen beating up large number of women, who had come to protest the allege rape.
Meanwhile, the PIB (Defence Wing) said the troop had deserted their post on March 12. While one of the jawan reported back on March 13 the other was absconding.
The accused jawan was found during an operation and necessary disciplinary action is being initiated against the erring soldier.

The Kuki Students Organisation and other women organisations in the state have condemned the alleged rape and assault on the mediapersons.
