4 arms smugglers arrested, arms seized
Azamgarh, Mar 15 (UNI) Police arrested four members of an interstate gang of arms smugglers and seized a large number of weapons from their possession.
Police superintendent N K Srivastava said two motorcycle-borne youth were nabbed during a vehicle checking drive at Bhormau village in Phoolpur area.
Later, two other youth were also arrested on clues provided by them.
Four foreign-made pistols, five countrymade pistols, 100 cartridges, one motorcycle and five mobile phones were seized.
The quartet were identified as Naseem, Muazzam, Afroz Alam and Saroj Pathak. They operated in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar selling illegal arms.
Meanwhile, Mr Srivastava announced a reward of Rs 5,000 to the police team.
