Withdraw draft delimitation of TN LS constituencies list:PT leader
Chennai, Mar 14 (UNI) Puthiya Tamizhagan (PT) founder leader Dr K Krishnaswamy today appealed to the Election Commission to immediately withdraw the draft delimitation of Tamil Nadu Lok Sabha constituencies list.
Talking to reporters here, he said the draft list released yesterday, besides lacking geographical representations was also against the interest of Dalit voters.
Dr Krishnaswamy said he had already met Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President M Krishnasamy, CPI-M state secretary N Varadharajan and CPI state secretary D Pandian in this connection.
They also agreed with his view and infact TNCC president had issued a press release yesterday to withdraw the draft list, the PT leader claimed.
He pointed out that as per the delimitation draft list the reserve Lok Sabha constituencies in southern parts of Tamil Nadu were fully removed from the reserved categories while more number of reserved constituencies in northern districts of the state created, ignoring the interest of the dalit population particularly the dominent Devendra Kula Velallar in the southern districts.
Dr Krishnaswamy urged Chief Minister M Karunanidhi not to allow the implementation of the draft list and to use his good offices to ensure that the reserved constituencies were spread across Tamil Nadu.
He said he was going to meet the Chief Minister and other leaders, including State Election Commissioner D Chandrasekharan to seek their support for the withdrawal of the draft list.
Demanding that a fresh delimitation drill be commenced from the village-level, Dr Krishnaswamy threatened that his party would launch a struggle in front of the Parliament soon if the Election Commission failed to withdraw the draft delimitation list.
