Puducherry, Mar 14 (UNI) ''Santhosha Nanbaragal'', a voluntary organisation engaged in the welfare of street children here rescued nine drug addict children.

Talking to newspersons here yesterday, the Director(Home) of the organisation Manglorin said the children below 12-years were using whitner solution, synthetic rubber-based adhesives, besides grass.

While they used to smoke grass, the whitener and the adhesive would be put into a plastic packet, which would give them intoxication, he added.

He said the organisation was after them for a few days while they used to take drugs under a bridge near the Government General Hospital here and caught hold of nine children, though five others escaped.

The children used to get grass and other items through a girl, Mr Manglorin said, adding that the parents of some children were informed, and if they come to the organisation with adequate proof like ration cards, the children would be sent along with them.
