Punjab govt, Leyland join hands for driving school
Chandigarh, Mar 14 (UNI) Punjab government and Ashok Leyland will join hands to set-up a training school for drivers in the border state.
The school will be located on a 22-acre plot in Kapurthala district. Leyland which has a similar school in Tamil nadu has approved the site.
Revealing this here today, Transport Minister Mohan Lal said that an MoU between the state government and Leyland will be signed after the Cabinet accords its approval for the school.
State transport and private bus drivers would be trained in this school, he said. Even private persons desirous of getting a heavy vehicle driving license could join this school, for which the fee structure would be intimated later, he added.
Mr Mohan Lal said that besides teaching driving skills, the school would also impart training on social behaviour, primarily to improve the interaction of those behind the wheel with the passengers. Social behaviour courses would also be imparted to the bus conductors, he said.
