Opposition's conduct in House irresponsible: Raje

Jaipur, March 14 (UNI) Criticising the Opposition for its ''irresponsible'' behaviour in the Vidhan Sabha today, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje said an elaborate relief package for rain-hit farmers would be announced soon after the survey reports come in. While talking to reporters here, Ms Raje said it was expected that the Opposition and the ruling party would come together at a time when the state is passing through such a trying period.

Many districts of the state have been ravaged by untimely rains and hailstorm in the past two days. The farmers in at least 22 districts have suffered immense losses due to crops loss.

She said it becomes everyone's responsibility to come forward and work together so that affected farmers get relief as soon as possible.

But instead of a healthy debate which could have thrown up good solutions for the farmers' benefit, Ms Raje said the Opposition was indulging in irresponsible behaviour and adjourning the Assembly continuously.

The Vidhan Sabha was adjourned for the second consecutive day today as Opposition indulged in slogan shouting and trading charges at each other.

Ms Raje said senior ministers and officials would tour the affected districts from March 17-19 and estimate the losses suffered. Even district collectors have been asked to submit reports of losses.

The Chief Minister said she has asked the union agriculture minister to send a central team to assess the losses suffered.
