NCP releases 1st list of 100, says Cong a non-entity, fight with BJP

New Delhi, Mar 14 (UNI) Declaring the Congress as a 'non entity' in the forthcoming Delhi municipal elections due to its dualspeak on public issues, the Nationalist Congress Party today said its real fight was with the BJP.

Making a scathing attack on the ruling party, while releasing the first list of 100 candidates, NCP (Delhi) president Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said as far as MCD under the Congress was concerned it was a total failure with several of its Councillors arrested for corruption by the CBI, roads across the city in bad condition and garbage disposal in a state of disarray.

''Fake assurances on regularising of 1,500 colonies, as told in Rajya Sabha by Ajay Maken, removal of 42,000 hutments without any resettlement despite an undertaking in the court, and denial of amenities in extended Lal Dora areas are issues for which the Congress has no answers,'' he said.

Inflated electricity bills, price rise, load shedding, erratic water supply and lack of development are other planks which would see Congress bite the dust, said Mr Bidhuri adding that because of this we don't see the Congress anywhere in the race.

''Our fight is with the BJP,'' he said.

The NCP leader, who is part of the CPI, CPI (M), Forward Bloc, JD (U), Jan Morcha conglomerate called the 'Progressive Alliance', also added that there would be a 'friendly contest' on a couple of seats between his party and Left parties and on about a dozen seats with Janata Dal (Secular) and Jan Morcha.
