MGP for imposition of President's Rule before assembly elections
Panaji, Mar 14 (UNI) Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) today demanded imposition of President's Rule in Goa to ensure conduct of 'free and fair' elections to the State Legislative Assembly.
MGP president Pandurang Rowt told mediapersons that corruption had been on rise in the current Congress regime and this could be checked if the President's Rule was imposed before holding the elections, scheduled in May this year.
The MGP, which ruled the state for about 16 years, had been receiving good response to the party's campaign. It had contacted 60,000 families in 25 of the 40 Assembly segments so far in Goa as part of its awareness campaign, he added.
