Maharashtra opposition disrupts Governor speech at budget session
Mumbai, Mar 14 (UNI) The budget session of Maharashtra Legislature got underway here today on a stormy note with opposition Shiv Sena-BJP disrupting Governor S M Krishna's address to the joint session of both houses.
Mr Krishna's speech was inaudible for the first ten minutes as the opposition members including senior leaders were on their feet and shouted slogans demanding the Governor make his speech in Marathi as they could not hear the Marathi translation from the head phone given to them on their benches.
When the Governor touched upon the issues of acute power shortage being faced by the state, the Shiv Sena-BJP members raised slogans for a brief moment.
During his speech, Mr Krishna dwelled on the issues of industrial development and growth and economic progress achieved by the state in the past one year despite the calamities.
