HC stays grant of security to 35 persons
Allahabad, Mar 14 (UNI) Allahabad High Court has stayed the grant of security given to 35 persons, who were found eligible for it by a recently constituted high powered committee (HPC).
The stay will continue till the court is satisfied the orders passed by the HPC was just, valid and in accordance with rules and guidelines.
A division bench comprising Justices Imtiyas Murtaza and Amar Saran passed this order on a writ petition filed by Gayur Hasan.
The court also directed the security provided to 121 persons, who had been given in security in pursuance of HC and subordinate court orders, shall be withdrawn forthwith, subject to certain exceptions.
Persons provided with security and required to appear as witness and facing threat to their lives have been included under exceptions.
The bench, after staying the grant of security given to 35 persons by the two HPC orders of March 9 and March 12, 2007, has directed to place the entire records for examination of the HC as to whether the committee had discharged legitimate exercise of its power.
