Gehlot condemns police firing on farmers
Jaipur, Mar 14 (UNI) Congress general secretary and former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot today condemned the police firing on farmers in Bharatpur yesterday, who were demanding compensation for the loss to their crops due to unseasonal rains.
Mr Gehlot said in a statement that it is sad that farmers in various districts of Rajasthan have to resort to agitations to demand compensation for their crop losses due to hailstorm and unseasonal rains.
He added that as usual the Vasundhara Raje-led BJP goverment is using guns and batons to suppress the protests.
Mr Gehlot asked the state government to conduct a survey of crop losses and provide them compensation as soon as possible.
