Five killed, eight injured in road accident in HP
Dharamshala, Mar 14 (UNI) At least five people were killed and eight injured, three of them seriously, after their jeep rolled down into a gorge in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh late last night, district ASP Santosh Patial said today.
The accident occurred at Latnarh Nullah on the Pathankot-Mandi National Highway in the district late last night, he told UNI here.
Mr Patial said while four people were killed on the spot, a woman succumbed to her injuries on way to Dr Rajender Prasad Medical College at Tanda in the district.
The three of the seriously injured in the accident have been referred to CMC Ludhiana from Tanda, where the remaining five were undergoing treatment, he said.
He said the dead have been identified as Rohit, 24, Ashok Kumar, 24, Chaman Lal, 24, Mallan Nitin, 23, Zaman and Pinky, 33.
Thirteen people were traveling in the Bolero when the accident occurred, he said, adding that the reason of the accident was, however, not immediately known.
The district ASP said that a case has been registered and investigations were on.
