CM asks Meghalaya police to update govt on progress
Shillong, Mar 14 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister D D Lapang has asked the state police to update the government in every four months on the progress and achievements of the department.
Mr Lapang, who is also in-charge of Home(Police), in a meeting with senior police officials, led by Director General of Police William Richmond Marbaniang yesterday, stressed the need to review and improve functioning of the state police.
The Chief Minister also urged the police department to take effective steps to ensure peace in the state and remain alert against the subversive and anti-social elements.
''Necessary steps will be taken for modernisation of the police in all respects,'' Mr Lapang said.
Mr Lapang also expressed hope that the newly-inducted women police personnel would contribute towards effective functioning of the department.
He also asked the policemen to maintain discipline during duty hours to get win confidence of the people.
Earlier, the DGP apprised the Chief Minister of the achievements of the state police in different aspects.
