Check discrimination against Hindus in J and K: BJP

New Delhi, Mar 14 (UNI) The BJP today expressed concern over the plight of and discrimination against Hindus in Jammu and Kashmir and their subsequent migration from various parts of the state following terrorist threats and demanded Centre's intervention.

The Party also demanded a ban on the use of the word 'kinnar' in the context of eunuchs saying 'kinnar' was actually inhabitant of Kinnaur and therefore, hurt the sensibilities of the people of that place.

The issues were raised by BJP members Pyarelal Khandelwal and Suresh Bhardwaj separately during Special Mentions in the Rajya Sabha.

Mr Santosh Bagrodia (INC) expressed concern over the crimes against children and their exploitation and demanded strong action by the government to end such practices while Mr Datta Meghe (NCP) expressed concern over malnutrition among children.

Mr R Shunmugasundaram (DMK) demanded introduction of Tamil as court language in the Madras High Court and Mr Ravula Chandra Sekhar Reddy (TDP) called for upgradation of airports at Tirupati, Vijaywada and Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh.

Mr Abu Asim Azmi demanded handing over of the Mumbai train bomb blasts probe to the CBI and Mr Lalit Kishore Chaturvedi (BJP) called for procurement of mustard seeds at support price.

Mr A Vijayaraghavan and Mr Tarini Kanta Roy (Both CPI-M) demanded environmental clearance for the Athirapalli Hydro-electric power project and declaring of North Bengal as a Tax-Free Zone respectively.

Mr Shantaram Naik and Dr Ms Prabha Thakur (both INC) respectively called for expeditious framing of rules under the ST and other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006, and hassle-free medical assistance to victims of road accidents.

Mr M V Mysura Reddy and Mrs N P Durga (both TDP) stressed the need for revising the package and writing off of loans taken by farmers and comprehensive legislation on clinical trials in the country.

Dr Barun Mukherjee (AIFB) demanded expeditious completion of the Teesta Irrigation Project.

Mr Rudra Narayan Pany (BJP) demanded development of national highways in Orissa while Mr Vijay Darda (INC) and Mr Moin-ul-Hasan (CPI-M) called for immediate relocation plan for existing habitation from Tiger Reserves and continuation of old EEE mode for all saving instruments.
