Bhopal, Mar 14 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today informed the Assembly that chargesheets have been submitted in courts against 17 government officials in the state in the past two years.

In a written reply to Mr Girija Shankar Sharma (BJP), Mr Chouhan said Lokayukta Special Police Establishment submitted chargesheets against the then minister Jugal Kishore Bagri and another senior officer without the government's permission.

However, he admitted that the Hoshangabad Collector had sought approval from the government for prosecuting and arresting the then Hoshangabad deputy collector R L Bhanmani.

Action in this regard was under consideration. Mr Bhanmani was recently caught in an obscene act with a woman in a CD.

The Chief Minister stated that no communal riots took place in the state in January or February in Madhya Pradesh. However, there were some communal tensions in about six places including Indore.

No administrative officer was responsible for the action.

He said investigation was being carried out in connection with the death of sub-inspector Chetna Sharma due to gunshot injury in Bhind. Details could not be provided at this juncture.

Mr Chouhan said the incident was being looked upon as suicide on the basis of evidence present at the site and post-mortem report.

He said anti-dacoity campaign has been speeded up and a special company of the Special Task Force made available to tackle the menace of dacoity in the Panna National Park.

Medical Education Minister Ajay Vishnoi told Mr Sobran Singh (Cong) that some shortcomings had been noticed at the Gandhi Medical College during a visit by a team of the Indian Medical Council.

Efforts were being made to rectify them.
