Azad expresses concern over maintenance of Saigal's memorial stone
Jammu, Mar 14 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has expressed concern over the poor maintance of memorial stone of renowned singer Kundan Lal Saigal in the Jammu city.
While walking through Link road during his surprise visits to 40 important sites of Jammu city including old and new areas, Mr Azad advised for proper maintenance and beautification of the K L Saigal Chowk so that the late Saigal's memories were preserved for posterity.
''K L Saigal is the pride of whole the state, therefore, his memorial stone must be properly maintained, the Chief Minister said.
He said Jammu was fast emerging as one of the mega cities of the state and attention needed to be paid to complete various projects under different schemes for beautification of the city and upgrading of civic amenities on priority basis.
Mr Azad personally monitored the condition of roads, lanes, bye-lanes, drains, sanitation works, last night. His tour started at 2200 hrs and continued till midnight.
The Chief Minister stopped at Raghunath Mandir Chowk and advised to make surroundings of the chowk more captivating and attractive, keeping in view the spiritual importance of the historic temple.
Mr Azad at several places gave on-the-spot instructions for improvement of basic infrastructures facilities and civic amenities.
He was accompanied by Minister for Health and Medical Education Mangat Ram Sharma, Minister for R&B Gulchain Singh Charak and other officials.
