11 kids take ill after consuming mid-day meal

Akola, Mar 13 (UNI) 11 kids have taken ill due to food poisoning after consuming 'khichadi' at Hatna village in Manora tehsil in the adjoining Washim district.

Children of age group 2-3 years, began vomiting after consuming the 'khichadi' yesterday, which was being provided by the government under the 'mid-day meal' programme to them.

They were rushed to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) of the village, which referred them to the General Hospital here.

Four of the 11 kids are reportedly serious, hospital sources said.

A 'Bachat gat (saving group) has been given the contract to prepare the diet.

Police investigations have began to ascertain the cause of the incident.
