Agartala, Mar 13 (UNI) Tripura government will be setting up a rubber park in the Budhjungnagar industrial centre in west district.

The proposed rubber park, to be set up with help from the Rubber Board, would be built on a 50-acre land at a cost of Rs seven crore, State Industry Minister Tapan Chakrborty informed the state assembly yesterday.

He said that in the proposed rubber park, there will be a laboratory, an office, a warehouse and a testing and certificitation standard design tool room for the rubber-based industries.

The Dharampal Satyapal group of industries had set up a rubber-based industry at Bodhjungnagar, about 15 km from here, in September last year, with an investment of Rs 85 crore.

The factory's production capacity per annum is 5,000 m and estimated annual turnover is 56 crore, Mr Chakraborty said.

The industry minister also said that the state-owned Tripura Forest Development Production Corporation Limited will also be setting up a rubber-based industry. A timber treatment plant, latex centrifusing and sap mill has already been set up here.

Rubber cultivation in the state during 2005-2006 produced 18,455 m of rubber with an annual turnover of Rs 114 crores, the minister informed.
