Hyderabad, Mar 13 (UNI) Consumer Electronics major Samsung will open a 100 million US Dollar facility at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu by August 2007, a top company official said today.

This unit will be 2.5 times bigger than its Noida facility. It will initially roll out colour televisions from the new facility, Company Deputy Managing Director R Zutshi said.

Samsung India will also use the Tamil Nadu facility for exporting consumer goods, including washing machines and refrigerators, to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan.

Even as exports to SAARC countries will be company's 2007 thrust area, it also planned to tap large retail formats like Reliance and Croma to expand domestically.

For this, the company will increase its roadshows to 150 this year from 120 last year as it plans to expand its brand by 40 per cent in 2007.

It launched three new advanced series of split ACs for Indian market today as part of its plans to introduce a new series of air conditioners during 2007.
