Samsung aims 50% rise in AC sales; launches 3 new split models

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) Eyeing a 50 per cent growth in its air conditioner business this calendar year, Samsung India today announced further addition in its split AC range.

The company launched three new, advanced series of Split air conditioners -- Vivace, Moderato and Forte.

This range comes equipped with features like Good Sleep, Ultra Tropical Rotary Compressor (UTR) and Micro Plasma Ion.

''The new, enhanced air conditioner range coupled with the expansion of our Sales and Service (S&S) network for ACs, should see us grow our AC business by 50 per cent this year,'' Samsung India Electronics Director-Sales Pradeep Tognatta said.

The window AC range too has been enriched with features like Filter Check Display Mode, Ultra Tropical Rotary Compressor -- specially developed for the Indian market, Good Sleep Mode, and fluorescent remote control, he added.

Samsung's new AC range has been developed by studying the sensitive sleep patterns of human's scientifically. The Good Sleep Mode technology keeps the skin's temperature at an optimal level during sleep and results in 82 per cent longer deep-sleep hours. The Good Sleep Mode also claims to save up to 30 per cent energy as compared to conventional cooling.

''Air conditioners and refrigerators are the growth drivers for home appliance business this year,'' Samsung India Deputy Managing Director R Zutshi said.

The UTRTM Compressor maximises the energy efficiency of Samsung air conditioners by up to 10 per cent and ensures lower power consumption. The UTR TM Compressor features a high torque motor that can operate under heavy loads and starts up even in low voltage conditions. The overload protector in the motor helps suppress internal heat build up and prevents damage.

Samsung Electronics, the parent company of Samsung India, invested three million dollars to develop the Micro Plasma Ion technology, that has been introduced in the Samsung Split models.

The Samsung Vivace Model, is available for Rs 39,990 while the Moderato is available for Rs 35,990. The Samsung Forte available in 1.0T, 1.5T and 2.0T versions has been priced between Rs 22,390 and Rs 30,790.

With the introduction of the new series, the company has a range of nine split models in the price range between Rs 21,990 and Rs 39,990.

''We are expecting Split ACs to contribute at least 50 per cent by volume to our total AC sales this year,'' states Mr Tognatta.

''In addition to our S&S network, we will be enhancing the visibility for our air conditioner range through Samsung Dream Home Road shows and a stronger presence in our Brand Shops and the new, specialised large format retail stores,'' Mr Zutshi added.
