More welfare programmes for Assam Rifles personnel
New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) The Home and Defence ministries today discussed new welfare measures for the personnel of the Assam Rifles to enhance the effectiveness of the country's oldest para-military force.
Assam Rifles personnel have been working in difficult conditions because of their engagement in border guarding and counter-insurgency operations.
At a high-level meeting, Home Secretary V K Duggal and Defence Secretary Shekhar Dutt reviewed the implementation of ongoing welfare programmes and discussed further welfare measures needed for them.
"Appropriate action will be initiated based on the discussions in a time-bound manner," Home Ministry sources said.

Management),
MHA,
Vice-Chief
of
the
Army
Staff,
Special
Secretaries
in
Ministry
of
Home
Affairs
and
Ministry
of
Defence,
Director
General,
Military
Operations
and
Director
General,
Assam
Rifles.
