India, Pak Auditors General discuss cooperation

New Delhi, Mar 13: India and Pakistan today agreed to strengthen cooperation between the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) of the two countries in areas of public audit and accounts.

Pakistan's Auditor General Mohammed Yunis Khan, currently on a five-day visit o India, met Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) Vijayendra Kaul and discussed with him ways to strengthen cooperation between the SAIs of the two countries.

Mr Khan who arrived here yesterday, also met senior officials of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department. He was given a presentation on 'Receipt Audit' by the Head of the Receipt Audit Wing of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department.

The two were of the view that there existed a number of possibilities for mutually-beneficial cooperation between the two institutions.

Mr Khan is also scheduled to visit the National Academy of Audit and Accounts, Shimla.

Mr Kaul had visited Pakistan in February last year.

India has been training selected auditors from Pakistan at the International Training Centre of the department at NOIDA (Uttar Pradesh).

So far 2000 auditors from more than 100 countries have been trained in various programmes at the centre.
