HP Animal Husbandry Minister corners BJP over corruption issue
Shimla, Mar 13 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Animal Husbandry Minister Harsh Mahajan today launched a scathing attack on the BJP over the corruption issue, saying it had reached alarming proportions during the previous BJP government.
In a discussion on the 2007-08 Budget proposals in the Assembly here, he said following widespread corruption during the previous government's tenure, its own ministers and legislators had levelled corruption charges against the government.
Reading from a letter, written by four ministers and three party legislators to the then Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, he said they had alleged that recruitment in government departments was taking place from one particular district only and that the people had lost faith in the recruitment board.
The letter had alleged irregularities were taking place in the PWD department under Mahinder Singh following which there a din in the House with the BJP members demanding that this be expunged from the proceedings of the House, Mr Mahajan said.
Senior BJP leader Ramesh Dhawala and other members continued with their protest for a few moments until the Deputy Speaker ruled that he had sought the Chair's permission and already submitted the letter to him.
Continuing with his tirade against the BJP, he read the then Principal Secretary S K Alok' letter to the government wherein he had alleged irregularities in the construction of the Swami Vivekanand Hospital at Kangra.
