Four nominations filed on day one for phase I of poll in UP

Lucknow, Mar 13(UNI) Altogether four nomination papers were filed on the opening day of the first phase of elections in UP in which polling will held for 62 assembly seats on April 7.

Sitting MLA of the ruling Samajwadi Party Ms Ambesh Kumari filed her nominations from Charkhari (SC) seat in Mahoba district, while Babu Ram Nishad of the Bhartiya Jan Shakti Party submitted his nominations from Hamirpur seat.

Sunil Babu of the BSP filed his nominations from Aryanagar seat in Kanpur and Independent Umesh filed his nominations from Sarvankhera in Kanpur Dehat district.

No nominations were filed for the Bilaur Lok Sabha seat for which the by-election would be held along with the first phase of polling.

Earlier, Governor T V Rajeswar, this morning, had issued the notification for the election of 62 assembly seats to be held in the first phase. March 20 is the last date of filing of nominations and on the next day scrutiny of papers would be done. Candidiates can withdraw their nominations till March 23.
