Federation to go ahead with Mar 15 bandh

Puducherry, Mar 13 (UNI) The Federation of Village Panchayat Presidents Associations would go ahead with their proposed 24-hour bandh here on March 15.

Announcing this at a press conference today, Federation convener Nagamuthu and deputy convener Jaganathan said the Federation was forced to call the bandh. The territorial administration and the government should shoulder the responsibility, they added.

They also said it was improper on the part of the territorial administration to remain silent in their issue even after the Federation organised a series of agitations.

The Federation, which had organised a series of agitations to press the government for the devolution of powers to the elected representatives of the local bodies had called for a 24-hour bandh here on March 15 to press the demand.
