EICA to host Global Cotton Meet in Mumbai
Mumbai, Mar 13 (UNI) In a first global event, India's oldest cotton trade organisation, East India Cotton Association (EICA) along with Cotton Outlook U K is hosting a two-day International Conference from March 14 in Mumbai.
Over 500 delegates from 17 Countries including China and US apart from India will participate in the Conference to be held at NCPA, south Mumbai. Mr S Roy, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Textile, will inaugurate the Conference, while Mr J N Singh, Textile Commission and Mr Wallace Darneille, President of International Cotton Association will deliver a key note address. The event will also have a Panel discuss on Indian cotton in global scenario.
EICA President Mr Kishore Jhunjhunwala told reporters that India has a prominent role in the World cotton trade. It is now the largest cultivator, third largest producer, second largest consumer and third largest exporter of cotton and is poised to become the second largest producer and exporter in the world.
The theme of the Conference is that India's place in the global cotton Market is therefore very timely and appropriate. The conference will discuss key issues relating to world cotton trade with special reference to India and would also serve as an excellence opportunity of networking between buyers and sellers, he added.
