Disaster Management cells set up in Kashmir by police

Srinagar, Mar 13 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police has set up Disaster Management Cells (DMC) in different parts of the valley to keep a close watch on the situation which arose due to heavy snowfall, and to provide immediate help to the needy.

The police have so far hospitalised about 15 people, including three pregnant women in the valley, a police spokesman said.

He said the DMCs were established at Srinagar, Kupwara, Pulwama, Shopian, Baramulla and Badgam to provide immediate help to needy people.

He said the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone S M Sahi, has directed all the subordinate units of Kashmir police to provide all possible help to the needy people.

In a message IGP Kashmir has directed all the range DIGs and SSP to keep close vigil on the situation, and reach out to the people with in shortest possible time.

He said the control rooms have received 2800 calls seeking help, including for taking sick to hospitals.

He said three pregnant women, besides about 15 other persons, including injured, were taken to hospitals in police vehicles.
