CPI urges CEC to allow parties to issue whip to MLAs

Hyderabad, Mar 13 (UNI) The CPI's Andhra Pradesh unit today urged the Election Commission of India to allow the political parties to issue whips to its MLAs for supporting the candidates contesting the Legislative Council elections, scheduled on March 22.

According to a press release here, the CPI State Secretary K Narayana urged the CEC N Gopalaswami to allow the parties to issue whip to curb the ''horse trading'' during the election.

He also urged the CEC to adopt the open ballot voting system as followed in electing Rajya Sabha members.
