CHESCOM Asst Engineer held for accepting bribe
Madikeri, Mar 13:A CHESCOM Assistant Engineer was caught red hand by Lokayukta sleuths while accepting bribe for showing official favour.
Lokayukta sources said that Srinivas was caught red handed while accepting Rs 5,000 as a bribe to install transformer from Capt. Madappa of Hulugunda near Siddapur yesterday.
Capt Madappa had applied for regularization of 20 H.P. motor to draw water from Cauvery River. He had paid Rs 28,000 fee and deposit to the Electricity Department. But Srinivas was demanding Rs 5,000 bribe to erect a transformer to enable Capt Madappa to pump water.
On receiving a complaint by Capt Madappa Madikeri Lokayukta officer Divakar and his staff laid a trap and caught Srinivas.
