Budget session to begin tomorrow

Bangalore, Mar 13 (UNI) The budget session of the Karnataka Legislature will begin here tomorrow, with Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, who also holds the Finance portfolio, scheduled to present the budget in the Assembly on March 16.

The 16-day session was expected to be stormy as the Opposition Congress was hellbent on putting the ruling coalition of JD(S)-BJP on the mat on various issues such as drought, winding up of judicial commission on alleged mining irregularities and referring the issue to the Lok Ayukta.

The session, originally slated to begin on March 16, had been advanced by two days and the first two days were likely to witness clearance of pending bills and other discussions, including the recent final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal on sharing of water by the riparian States.

In the Council, the message sent by Governor T N Chaturvedi with regard to holding of election to the Chairman's post would be read out.
