BJP creating atmosphere of fear on sealing, demolition: Gehlot

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) All India Congress Committee general secretary and party incharge for Delhi Ashok Gehlot today alleged the BJP was creating a fear psychosis among people of Delhi on the issue of sealing and demolition for reaping political benefits in view of the coming MCD polls.

Alleging that the BJP was creating unnecessary rumours and indulging in false propaganda for political gains, Mr Gehlot, addressing a press meet here, said instead of indulging in a construtive discussion on issues concerning people, the opposition party was creating a state of uncertainty among the public on the issue of sealing and demolition.

''Instead of giving support to the Government in evolving measures to bring relief to people of Delhi from sealing and demolition, the BJP has been indulging in spreading rumours.

Claiming that measures taken by the Government like the notification of the 2021 Master Plan and regularisation of 1500 unauthorised colonies had brought tremendous relief to the people of Delhi from sealing and demolition, Mr Gehlot said instead of spreading an atmosphere of fear, the BJP should suggest measures to effect improvements in the 2021 Master Plan to bring further relief to the common man and traders.

Mr Gehlot said the process to select candidates for the MCD polls was going on at a brisk pace and meeting of district committees in all the 12 zones of Delhi had already been held in this regard.

A ten-member committee for selection of candidates for the 272 MCD wards going for polls had been set up yesterday.

Among the members of the committee, headed by Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Rambabu Sharma, were Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Union Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay maken, Mrs Krishna Tirath, Delhi cabinet ministers A K Walia and Arvinder Singh Lovely.
