Itanagar, Mar 13 (UNI) The Arunachal Pradesh animal husbandry and veterinary department has added another feather to its cap by setting up of Rs 2.56 crore Carcass Utilization Plant (CUP) at Karamjuli, near here.

Earlier, the department had successfully ventured into Arun Diary, which is catering to the milk need of the people in the Capital. The multi-disciplinary plant based on Japanese technology would not only produce bio-fertiliser, meat and bone meal, organic fertilizer, fodder for poultry, piggery and fishery, but would also prevent diseases emanating from unattended carcasses of dead animals disposed near dwelling places.

Inaugurating the project last evening Chief Minister Gegong Apang said the plant could herald a new era of development in the state.

Pointing out that the Centre has been chipping in with funds after realising that the state was waiting in the wings for development, Mr Apang emphasised on a mass awareness campaign to involve the people in the process as true partners.

The plant could facilitate setting up of numerous ancillary industries involving the educated unemployed youths and the area could be developed as an industrial estate by providing required infrastructure, Mr Apang suggested.
