Anti-incumbency routed Cong in Punjab, U'khand: Digvijay
Bhopal, Mar 13 (UNI) Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh today alleged that the anti-incumbency factor was responsible for the party's defeat in the recent Assembly elections in Punjab and Uttarakhand.
''Along with anti-incumbency against the government, anti-incumbency against legislators and inflation led to the defeat,'' Mr Singh told reporters in the Assembly Press Room here.
Stating that the BJP regime in Madhya Pradesh was facing an anti-incumbency wave, the former Chief Minister said the Congress would return to power in the next Assembly poll. ''I am not a claimant for chief ministership,'' he clarified.
Mr Singh said the Congress was satisfied with the papers submitted by Mr Subba -- the Congress MP from Tezpur -- whose nationality was under the scanner.
