Chennai, Mar 13 (UNI) The Opposition AIADMK today extended financial assistance of Rs 25,000 to the family of a fisherman, who was killed in firing by the Sri Lankan Navy on March 10.

On the direction of party General Secretary J Jayalalithaa, former Minister and AIADMK fishermen wing Secretary D Jayakumar and Joint Secretary Jennifer Chandran handed over the assistance to the family of Christopher at Pamban near Rameswaram.

They also gave a sum of Rs 5,000 each to two fishermen -- Wilfer and Dasan -- who suffered injuries in the incident, an AIADMK release here said.
