Strike cripples life in Tral, murder case against Army in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 12 (UNI) Even as Jammu and Kashmir police has registered a murder case in connection with the killing of two government employees allegedly by the Rashtriya Rifles (RR) at Aripal on March 10, spontaneous strike crippled life in Tral town of south Kashmir today.

Official sources said an FIR, under section 302, was registered in police station Tral, where a high school teacher Majid Jehangir and former employee of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Ghulam Muhammad Mir were allegedly killed by troops during a search operation.

However, a defence ministry spokesman said both the civilians were killed in militant firing during a search operation.

Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, assured the people proper investigation would be conducted into the incident to bring the guilty to book.

Meanwhile, life was crippled at Tral, Aripal and other adjoning areas in protest against the killing of civilians allegedly by the RR.

Shops and business establishments are closed and traffic was off the road.

People again took to streets this morning demanding immediate arrest of RR personnel responsible for the killings.
