Six jailed for murdering Dum Dum municipality chairman

Barasat, Mar 12 (UNI) Former Dum Dum municipalty chairman Sudhir Bhattacharya and five others were today sent to jail by a local court here in a murder case.

The prosecution said Mr Bhattacharya and five of his associates had shot dead Dum Dum municipality chairman Sailen Das on August 13, 2001.

Additional district and sessions Judge Sunil Chandra Barai, while announcing the verdict, held prime accused Bhattacharya and his associates guilty under sections 120B, 302, 120, 34 IPC.

Police said about 12 people were arrested in this regard.

The final hearing would be held tommorow.
