Price hike of Aavin milk is 'anti-people': Jayalalithaa

Chennai, Mar 12 (UNI) Terming the hike in Aavin milk prices as 'anti-people', AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa today demanded the DMK government to withdraw it with immediate effect.

In a statement here, she said poor and middle class people, who were already reeling under price hike of essential commodities, were severely hit by the price of Aavin milk.

The DMK government, while announcing freebies on one hand, had effected price rise on the other hand, subjecting people to hardships, she charged.

Though the previous AIADMK regime faced many problems like financial crisis, consecutive droughts, tsunami and unprecedented floods, it had remained a benevolent government, she claimed.

Ms Jayalalithaa recalled that her previous government increased the milk procurement price by one rupee per litre but did not hike the milk price in the interest of consumers.
