Hyderabad, Mar 12 (UNI) The Hyderabad police have been verifying the records of pending criminal cases registered against horse trader Hasan Ali after income tax sleuths detected unaccounted wealth worth Rs 35,000 crores held by him.

Talking to mediapersons here today, City Police Commissioner Balwinder Singh said all six cases were booked against him from 1992. Out of the six cases, two were booked on bank fraud cases and four on the charges of individual cheating.

Most of the cases were disposed off by the courts and police were verifying the pending cases against him, if any, Mr Singh said.

A few cheating cases were registered against Mr Ali at the central crime station. Besides, there was another case against him for throwing acid on a doctor. However, these date back to the early 1990s and we would be able to come up with a confirmation only after checking the records, he said.

There were two cases pertaining to cheque-bouncing complaints, while four were registered in 1992 for cheating a group of people, the details of which were being ascertained, he added.

He had a house in Banjara Hills and his divorced wife Mehboobunnisa Begum was residing in the house. She claimed that she had divorced him in 1999.

However, the Income Tax Department officials said they had not conducted any raid on his residential premises in the city.
