Pakistan has not lifted ban on Indian films, clarifies Govt

New Delhi, Mar 12 (UNI) Pakistan has not lifted the ban on Indian films, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi clarified here today.

The Minister's clarification of the position came in a written reply in the Lok Sabha to a Member who had asked whether New Delhi welcomed Pakistan's decision to allow Indian films.

Answering another part of the question, he said India had simplified the process for shooting foreign films and it would not normally take more than three months to clear the applications.

He, however, said processing of applications could take more time if the film required shooting in sensitive areas of Jammu and Kashmir, North-east or border areas of the country, as in that case the Home Ministry will have to be consulted.

Moreover if the subject of the film concerned communal riots, human rights, tribal, nuclear and defence matters or anything sensitive from economic, social, political angles, it would also require consultations with the Home Ministry.
