Hyderabad, Mar 12 (UNI) Members of the Telugu Desam Party and other Opposition parties today stalled the proceedings of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly for some time, demanding remunerative prices for the produce of farmers in the state.

Trouble began soon after Speaker K R Suresh Reddy disallowed the adjournment motion notices by the TDP, TRS and CPI(M) with the members pressing for an immediate discussion on the issue, setting aside the agenda set for the day.

Even as the Speaker appealed the members to raise the issue during the debate on demand for grants for the Agriculture department, the opposition party members raised slogans against the Government and pressed for an immediate discussion on the issue.

Pandemonium prevailed in the Assembly for over 15 minutes before the Speaker promised to direct the Government to make a statement in the House on the issue and restored order.

The Speaker also disallowed the adjournment motion notice by the BJP on the alleged non-filling of vacancies in various departments and by the CPI to press for discussion to enhance the budget for the Mid-day meal scheme for school children.
